The mucosa from the esophageal biopsy is columnar rather than squamous. Furthermore it has a villiform appearance that is lined bu mucinous folveolar cells with interspersed pale blue goblet cells characteristic of incomplete intestinal metaplasia and diagnositic of Barrett’s esophagus.
